Protect Your Beautiful Rug with Padding

Rug Padding protects you and your rug!

Provide a solid foundation for your beautiful carpet with a rug pad.
Not only will rug pads bring comfort and cushion to your rugs, but they’ll also add durability to make them last longer. You can even protect your floors underneath with padding that prevents color transfer and staining.
Rug pads create a safer environment by reducing the wrinkles and slippage of your area rug, which also makes it easier to vacuum. Why do I need rug padding?

  1. Create a safer environment by reducing wrinkles and slippage of your rug. Keeps it in place and flat.
  2. Extend the life of your area rug by keeping it stable.
  3. Protect against color transfer, marring and staining of your floor or carpet.
Some landlords require padding under rugs because this can happen from spills or cleaning.
  4. Add comfort and cushion to your rug.
Your rug will be more luxurious to walk on.
  5. Vacuum your rug more easily and prevents damage.

Q: My rug lies over wall to wall carpet, do I still need a pad?
A: Yes. Many times, rugs lying over wall to wall carpeting will shift and buckle as they are walked on.  A special non-slip pad is available to reduce that movement so the rug doesn’t need to be adjusted as often.
Ayoub N&H carries rug padding for all your carpets and rugs – give us a call or stop by the Kensington, MD store.
Q: What types of padding does Ayoub N&H Carpet & Rugs carry?
A:  We carry several types of padding depending on the size of the rug and function of the padding.
For Large sized rugs, from about 7’x10′ and over, that are heavy enough that they don’t move or slide, or are anchored down by furniture, we recommend our “Fiber” padding.

  • About 1/2″ thick
  • Made of bonded fibers from excess carpet scraps
  • Provides cushion to protect the rug and give added comfort

For Medium sized rugs, from about 4′ x 6′ and up, we recommend “Rug Stay Padding”.  It can also be used on large rugs that have a tendency to shift.

  • About 1/4″ thick
  • Made of bonded fibers from excess carpet scraps
  • One side is coated with rubber to provide non-slip qualities.  The other side has a rough texture to help hold the rug in place.
  • Also provides cushion to protect the rug and give added comfort

For Small sized rugs, we have an “Anchor” padding.  It is a 1/8″ thick solid rubber that helps hold small rugs in place.  This pad is the best for non-slip qualities, but doesn’t provide much cushion.

  • About 1/8″ thick
  • Made of solid rubber
  • Primarily used for small rugs or very thin larger rugs.

The three types listed above are all cut to fit the rug.  We would get the exact dimensions of the rugs and cut it based on that measurement, usually allowing the rug to overlap the padding by about 1″.  If the customer does not want to bring in the rug, they can give us the measurement, not including the fringe, and we can cut the padding based on their measurements.
We also have pre-packaged types of padding that can be purchased and cut using a pair of scissors.  Although these pads will not last as long as the others, it is the least expensive option.

  • Pre Packaged Premiere pad comes in sizes from 3′ x 5′ to 9′ x 12′ and is used for rugs going over a hard surface such as wood, laminate, ceramic tile, etc.
  • Miracle Hold pad comes in sizes from 3′ x 5′ to 9′ x 12′ and is used for rugs going over wall to wall carpeting or other area rugs.  It acts similar to a double sided tape and helps grip the rug to the carpet underneath.

Choosing the right flooring option for your basement can be tricky — there are many options available and the right choice all depends on…

They cleaned some rugs that were in my basement that had been damaged from flooding… I thought that Ayoub N&H Carpet and Rugs did a fantastic job. They even smelled fresh and clean when they were done. I would definitely recommend their services to others. They are also very reasonable on their charges.
